Clearstar watched his tribe at the edge of the ledge, in which den rested. His sister, Tallwing was ordering out patrols. He'd have to chose another deputy soon. She would be a good candidate. The white tom leaped down to meet up with his mate, Morningstone. She was expecting his kits. He then licked her cheek and and leaped onto the high trunk. The MountainRunners camp was settled deep in the mountains, between two mountains in a valley.— Mel thnks fr th mmrs 22:20, July 11, 2015 (UTC)

Acornclaw jogged into camp with a large bird in her jaws, Magpiewhisker holding up the other end of the bird so it wouldn't drag on the ground. Acornclaw spotted Clearstar on the trunk and dipped her head to him. "Good morning, Clearstar," she greeted the white Oriental tom. "Prey is running - well, flying, as it is - very well today. The morning patrol was very successful, as you can see," the black based tabby meowed, signaling the rest of the patrol to step forward. The others carried a bird per pair - three large birds total. — ferk my name is BLURRYFΛCE 22:31, 07/11/2015

Clearstar nodded and replied. "That's great. Great job." He praised the tabby. "Now may all cats gather to hear my words." He started. "It is time I choose my deputy. I have chosen Acornclaw as my new deputy if you'll take it?" He said looking at his friend. Tallwing was surprised. Of course! Acornclaw would make a great deputy! She thought. The black she-cat waited for the warriors reply.— Mel thnks fr th mmrs 22:36, July 11, 2015 (UTC)

Acornclaw blinked, rather surprized. She'd assumed the leader's sister would be the new deputy. Acornclaw nodded. "I accept, Clearstar. It'd be an honor to serve as your deputy." — ferk my name is BLURRYFΛCE 23:04, 07/11/2015

Clearstar bowed his head to his new deputy. "It'd be a honor to serve beside you." He murmured as the clan cheered her name. Tallwing chanted Tallwing's name. Acornclaw was a highly respected warrior as well. Always helping out with the queens, elders, and hunting. She even brought in some of the most prey. The senior warrior walked up to Acornclaw. "Congratulations Acornclaw. You deserve this." She said. The pretty warrior always tried to be nice and positive. The former deputy rembered her time as deputy, but she had stepped down due to thinking that being leader wasn't for her. Tallwing then left Acornclaw to let Clearstar show the deputy around. After Clearstar was done showing Acornclaw around the tall leader leaped onto high rock then into his den to sleep.

Morningstone sat outside the nursery watching the drama and whatnot. She hadn't been feeling well lately, but figured it was just a cold. The queen lay down to rest in a small patch of sunlight beside Tallwing whom was dozing.— Mel thnks fr th mmrs 07:11, July 26, 2015 (UTC)

Acornclaw clambered out of her den as the sun rose, sending a bright beam of light directly into her den. The tabby and white she-cat squinted as she stretched her legs. The tabby spotted Magpiewhisker entering the camp with a small vole in his jaws, and she bounded up to him. "Good morning, you dork," she purred. The black and white tom bumped his head into her's gently. "Morning, beautiful," he whispered, licking her ear. — ferk my name is BLURRYFΛCE 02:16, 08/18/2015

Tallwing walked out of the warriors den stretching. She had noticed a change in her brother and sadly he was on his last life. Before she could finish a wail sounded from her brother's den. When she reached the den her brother the founder, lay still beside Morningstone whom was clinging to his body. Cinderpaw was there trying to pry her off. "Where's the deputy?" Cinderpaw asked. Tallwing looked down at where Acornclaw and the tom were. "She needs to head to moonstones to get her lives. After Clearstar is buried." The medicine cat apprentice said. "Fetch Acornclaw. This is no time for flirting." When Tallwing hesitated Cinderpaw hissed. "Now." The black former deputy called down to Acornclaw. "Acornclaw! Clearstar....needs to," Tallwing sighed. "Just get up here!" Cinderpaw said sternly. Her eyes filled with many emotions.— Mel thnks fr th mmrs 02:46, August 18, 2015 (UTC)

Acornclaw turned and looked up at CInderpaw. She saw the small she-cat's fur standing on end- something was wrong? With what? Was it... Clearstar? Certainly not. He was strong. Nothing could hurt him, right? She shook her head. Maybe it was his mate. She jumped up to the leaders den, without much hesitation. "Cinderpaw, what's wrong? Don't lie to me; I can see it on you. Something's wrong." — ferk my name is BLURRYFΛCE 02:54, 08/18/2015

Cinderpaw sighed and stepped away to reveal the limp body of Clearstar. "Nobody knew he was sick, but it seems he was." She said. She growled as Morningstone continued to wail. "Tallwing take Morningstone out of here." She said. After the two were gone the medicine cat apprentice began to explain. "As soon as he's buried you need to get your lives. Of course I'm sure Clearstar will be the first to give you a life." The gray molly knew he would. "Darkstorm or I will accompany you."— Mel thnks fr th mmrs 03:00, August 18, 2015 (UTC)

Acornclaw dipped her head and pressed her face into the big tom's white fur. "He will be missed. I should announce it to the Clan. We will head out as soon as I'm finished. Gather what you need; remember, I'm not permitted food or herbs before receiving lives."

Acornclaw stepped out of the den and onto the ledge. "May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the high ledge to hear my words!" The Clan stumbled out of their dens or scurried back from the dirtplace, alarmed by Acornclaw's voice calling out instead of Clearstar's. "It is with sadness that I relay this news; Clearstar has died. I will be travelling to the Moonstone to receive my nine lives. Until I return to choose a proper deputy, Tallwing will stand in as deputy," the she-cat meowed. It felt odd to be saying all this; like she wasn't emotional enough; but she knew the clan would benefit from a strong leader. — ferk my name is BLURRYFΛCE 03:08, 08/18/2015

Cinderpaw disappeared into the medicine cats den to tell Darkstorm and then grabbed a bundle of herbs. Tallwing in return nodded and thought for a minute. Surely she'll pick Magpiewhisker as deputy? Why would anyone chose me? I did step down because I wanted a family. Tallwing stood bowing her head. The black Oriental molly quickly listening before gathering cats to bury her brother. Cinderpaw walked up to Acornclaw and asked if she was ready. Cinderpaw walked back into camp behind Acornstar heading towards Darkstorm. Saying hello to her mentor she began sorting herbs. Setting out the bad and inspecting the somewhat good. — Mel thnks fr th mmrs 03:15, August 18, 2015 (UTC)

Acornstar, upon returning to her Clan, leaped up to her den - which smelled so heavily of Clearstar. She spotted Tallwing and dipped her head to the molly. "May all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the high ledge to hear my words!" she called; her first call as leader, with her nine lives. "Tallwing has done well to keep the Clan safe while I received my lives and new name. I thank you deeply, Tallwing, for doing that in such an awful place. As for the official deputy... I say this before the spirits of StarClan and hope they will hear and approve of my choice. Hailstorm will be the new deputy of the Mountain Runners. A rush of emotion flowed through Hailstorm as her name was announced. She had never expected something like this - never in her life had she imagined that she'd be picked over the entire Clan to become the deputy. It was truly and honor, and she had no idea why Acornstar picked her out of all the just as qualified cats in the Clan. Noticing that the Clan was waiting for her to speak, she looked to her leader. Tallwing walked up to Hailstorm and greeted her bowing her head respectfully. The black Oriental molly congratulated Hailstorm. "You'll make a great deputy Hailstorm." She replied. Lashing her tail. She was one of the most respected members especially with being Clearstar's sister. "May StarClan light your path." The she-cat turned and walked out of camp to think. She hadn't had time to properly mourn.— Mel thnks fr th mmrs 00:31, August 19, 2015 (UTC)

Acornstar dipped her head to her new deputy. "We will have the vigil for Clearstar tonight. I suspect the elders and Darkstorm have finished preparing his body by now; our founder will be brought out at sundown so we may share tongues with him one last time. Clan dismissed," the leader announced. She sighed and turned around with a flick of her tail, into her new den. Tallwing crouched beside a small stream. The rushing river wasn't far from here, but nobody ever swam let alone stood on it's banks because of the fast rushing waters and the dangerous birds that hung around there. Acornstar lifted her tabby and white head, waking from her slumber. She'd expected her first sleep as leader to be filled with nightmares and omens, but all she dreamt of were new kits and her Clan going on as usual. Acornstar walked with Tallwing to the founder's body. "Have you seen his mate?" the leader asked the black she-cat. "I'm sure she'd want to be here for this," she meowed softly. The tabby and white she-cat looked away from the founder's sister and saw Magpiewhisker a few pawsteps away. She nodded to him, beckoning him closer. Tonight would be a long, hard night. Everyone had been close to Clearstar. Everyone was hurting after the loss of their rather young founder. — ferk my name is BLURRYFΛCE 19:45, 08/19/2015

Tallwing frowned. "She wanted to pick some flowers for him. "I sent Arguspaw with her if that's all right?" The she-cat paused. "She should be here any minute." She said. The she-cat cast her amber eyes towards the entrance and sighed when the heavily pregnant queen slowly walked into camp with Arguspaw. "Sorry," she gasped for breath. "It took so long. I wanted the perfect flowers for him." She said dropping her bundle of flowers at Tallwing's paws. A third of then were yellow daises, the second third were purple and white tulips, the third part were just small different colored wildflowers. "They're beautiful, Morningstone." Tallwing told the mourning queen. "Aren they good enough?" She said glancing from Tallwing to Acornstar. Stopping at Acornstar she waited. Tallwing was doing her best to comfort Morningstone and all anyone could do around her, with Clearstar's death so fresh, was tread carefully.— Mel thnks fr th mmrs 21:03, August 19, 2015 (UTC)

"Couldn't have picked more perfect flowers myself, Morningstone. Arguspaw, thank you for going with Morningstone," Acornstar thanked her apprentice. Arguspaw nodded. "Morningstone, place the flowers around him, if you'd like," the tabby and white she-cat suggested to the queen. — ferk my name is BLURRYFΛCE 21:13, 08/19/2015

Morningstone placed her flowers over her mates body and stepped back slowly. Her tail drooped while her legs were quite tense. She hated to see her beloved buried beneath the sky at such a young age. Tallwing then whispered comforting words to the queen silently. Tallwing met Acornstar's gaze and nodded. The black she-cat herself knew that no matter what Clearstar would probably be sending omens and such to Acornstar in the years to come.— Mel thnks fr th mmrs 21:28, August 19, 2015 (UTC)

The moon wasn't visible in the sky that night - the stars of Silverpelt shined brightly, twinkling in the sky. Acornstar sat near the leader's head, with Tallwing and Morningstone sext to her, above and beside his head; Morningstone above him, Tallwing to his right. Acornstar was on the left. The other queens were sleeping in their nests, along with some of the elders, but most of the Clan was gathered around their founder's body.

The night was long and quiet; when the sun finally rose, the Clan said their goodbyes. Acornstar blinked sleepily and looked over to Morningstone and Tallwing once more. "When you're ready, let me know. I'll gather the elders to help bury him," she said softly. — ferk my name is BLURRYFΛCE 23:11, 08/19/2015

Tallwing sighed and turned to Morningstone. "Your choice. He was your mate." Morningstone stood tall and brave. "It's better to put him at rest now than wait. Acornstar I'm ready to bury him." The black Oriental she-cat nodded to her sister in law and shook her head. " I'll stay here, but I'll visit once he's buried."— Mel thnks fr th mmrs 23:23, August 19, 2015 (UTC)

"Of course, Morningstone," Acornstar said. She gathered up the elders, who had woken early to 'pay their respects to the young lad that took them in', as they put it. She directed them over to the body of the handsome founder and helped them lift the white tom onto their backs. She had Lakepaw and Arguspaw flank them, balancing the deceased tom on their backs as they headed to the Clan's burial site. The warriors had dug the grave while Acornstar was earning her lives. The elders placed Clearstar into the deep hole as the Clan watched; Acornstar kept her eye on Morningstone as the pregnant queen watched her Clanmates bury her mate. Morningstone nodded and gently scooped up a pawful of dirt along with a writhing worm. She scooped it onto her mate's side and murmured a few quiet words then stepped back. The pale eyed she-cat sat down to catch her breath as the elders buried Clearstar. She knew she was getting close to her giving birth. Darkstorm had been out of camp most of the last past few days. Leaving his apprentice in charge. The tom felt he could trust her as he didn't trust himself to look after the Clan. After all he stepped in only because someone thought he had potential. Potential? The black tom scoffed at that - he wasn't built to heal cats. He wanted to fight and earn the worth of having the scars that marked him. The young medicine cat scouted the slopes of his territory he was checking the borders - as he didn't totally trust all the runners at their job.

That was when the snap of a twig made him jump to the nearest cover - hoping his black pelt would aid in his possible situation. The scent of a larger animal filled the area - much larger than what he could imagine. Darkstorm stayed in the shadows and froze when the footsteps neared him. The creature stopped, placed something and then left. It's footsteps soon disappearing. The young medicine cat sniffed the air cautiously, a strange metallic scent caught his attention. But he wasn't quite sure what to think of it.

When he stepped out there was a loud snap. What a bloody idiot. Darkstorm let out a horrible screech. His neck was caught by a trap and it was slowly digging deeper into his neck. The tom struggled for a little but realized that if he stopped he'd likely live a little longer. User:Diablo./Sig 07:31 Thu Aug 20

Tallwing herself was out of camp and heard a yowl. She flattened her ears and searched for the noise finally noticing that Darkstorm their current medicine cat was stuck in a trap. "Darkstorm hold on. I'll go get help." THe black she-cat raced into camp panting. "Cinderpaw! Acornstar!" She yowled. "Darkstorm needs help he's stuck in a trap." The black she-cat stopped to breath waiting for the medicine cat apprentice to answer. Cinderpaw hearing Tallwing's call looked up at her mentor's name. Acornstar flattened her ears as she followed her medicine cat apprentice to Darkstorm. Once she saw the smokey tom, she knew they'd have to work fast if they were to save him - but she didn't know how to disengage the trap. Stupid Twolegs. The Clan had just lost their leader though - Acornstar would not let StarClan take another one of her Clanmates. Acornstar shook her head. How in StarClan's name would they free Darkstorm? She looked the trap over a few times. "I don't know Cinderpaw, but we need to work fast. I'm no medicine cat, but it doesn't take much medical knowledge to know that even though the trap is keeping the blood from getting out of his body, he's bleeding internally," the leader said. She tinkered with a few things on the trap. "I can't figure this thing out. We could try getting a twoleg over here... But then they'd take Darkstorm to the Cutter. We can't have that... We have to figure this out ourselves." — ferk my name is BLURRYFΛCE 17:30, 08/20/2015

Cinderpaw grabbed a stick a shoved it between the trap and shoved upwards forcing the trap to open. She flicked her tail at Acornstar signaling her to drag Darkstorm out of the trap. "He still may beyond saving," Acornstar said as she carefully extracted the medicine cat, applying pressure to his wounds with her big white paws.
